In early April, powerful tornadoes swept through Monette, Arkansas, leaving behind a path of destruction and heartbreak. Homes were leveled, trees were uprooted, and communities were shaken. Within 48 hours, our team at Kosmopolite Disaster Response was on the ground, ready to help.
As a new nonprofit organization, this was our first official deployment, and it confirmed exactly why we do what we do.
When we arrived, it was clear that the local response teams had already done incredible work to stabilize the area and provide immediate relief. Still, we found purpose and power in our presence: helping one remarkable family take their very first steps toward recovery.
With heavy hearts and sleeves rolled up, we cleared debris, offered emotional support, and reminded this family that they were not alone. The strength and resilience they showed in the face of such devastation left a lasting impression on us, and we’re honored to have played a small part in their recovery journey.
This mission marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long legacy of compassion-driven response work. We’re incredibly grateful to our donors, partners, and supporters for helping us get off the ground, literally and figuratively.
